Prose Literature of Haryana

Litterateurs of Haryana are rich in every genre of literature. They have been equally adept in prose literature as well as poetry literature. Under prose literature, there are novels and language Litterateurs, biographies, plays, fictions, etc.

Novels

  • Sanskrit novels have also been written by litterateurs of Haryana.
  • Vaidya Shankarlal, resident of Dholra, Haryana, wrote the Sanskrit novel 'Shashiprabha', which was published in the year 1985.
  • Similarly, Pt. Sayanudatta Sharma wrote the language of Haryana, Pt Vidyadhar Shastri wrote Vedic literature, Shivnarayan Shastri wrote philosophy and grammar related literatures and Dr. Ram Gopal composed literature related to Vedic language and grammar. Thus, all these litterateurs played a major role in the development of Sanskrit prose literature of Haryana.
  • Biographies and Plays

  • Pt. Madhvacharya composed Kathashtakam (narration of Dhanna, Raidas, and Meera etc.) and Kabir Charitam. There are 100 stories in Kathashtakam which are written in very simple language.
  • Acharya Vidyanidhi composed Sri Dayanandarshi Charitam (Dayanand Chandrodaya). In this text, Acharya Vidyanidhi has given a description of the biography of Maharishi Dayanand.
  • Bhikharam Shastri composed Gandhi Charitam and Pt. Hazarilal Shastri composed Maharishi Dayanand Prashastishatkam.
  • Pt. Chhajuram Vidyasagar was the principal playwright of the state. He composed the Durgabhyudaya Natakam. There are seven points in this play.
  • The story of all these plays IS religious and mythological.
  • Shiva Samnadhirupam, composed by Prof. Satyadev, is a famous play which has four parts and sixteen scenes. It is a literary work.
